CCA Designers Win National Award
for Sustainable Exhibition Design

09.19.09 Christopher Chadbourne & Associates (CCA) proudly announces that two of our staff are the winners of a recent AIGA (Re)design Award. The (Re)design Awards are national awards presented by AIGA, the professional association for design, to recognize those designers whose work best represents an environmentally and socially sustainable approach.

The BoNE (Best Of New England) Show is a biennial design competition and fundraiser to benefit AIGA Boston. It celebrates the work of designers from the New England region. The show's theme for 2009 was "Community "B(oNE)", and celebrated the work of local designers.

Jeff Stammen and Christine Lefebvre, graphic designers at CCA, and fellow BoNE Show Committee member Brandon Bird, were 2nd place winners of the Sustainable Design Award for their work on the 2009 AIGA New England BoNE Show.

Graphics for the event were printed with UV-curing ink on recycled chlorine-free kraft paper, on a digital press at a printer located 5 miles from the gallery—or they were created by hand. Salvaged objects were incorporated. The effort was illuminated in the Green Lounge, where everything, thanks to Old Fashioned Milk Paint, was colored green.

The biggest undertaking of the exhibition, which was staffed completely by volunteers and cost only $6,800 to produce, was the re-purposing of wooden shipping pallets. The display system tied the exhibition together and gave it its award-winning look while maintaining the environmental goal of the show.
