The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has announced a $1-million grant from the James Irvine Foundation that will help support their new, "landmark" permanent exhibition—Under the Sun: Los Angeles, California, and the World. Christopher Chadbourne & Associates (CCA) is proud to be collaborating with the museum exhibit design staff and in conjunction with Los Angeles design and architectural firm, Hodgetts + Fung, on this very exciting project.
The new galleries will be the final component of a suite of major new exhibitions and a dramatic, ongoing transformation of the museum’s galleries, exhibitions, and programs.

According to Dr. Jane Pisano, President and Director of the museum, "This exhibition will inspire a sense of awe and wonder about the city and its composite places, a sense of connection to the others who live here, and an appreciation and awareness for the environment we inhabit.'"
The landmark exhibit, which is scheduled to open in 2012, will be informed by collaborations with local artists, arts educators, and curators; and will engage the local community and history, cultural and science organizations across Southern California.
Under the Sun will utilize hundreds of artifacts from the museum’s rich collection of natural and cultural history objects and documents, as well as interactive technologies, media installations and experiential exhibitions to explore how a unique interplay between diverse human populations and the natural environment has shaped the history and culture of Southern California.
