CCA Receives International Award
For Outstanding Museum

03.12.08 The Donald W. Reynolds Education Center at Mount Vernon, VA was awarded the 2008 Thea award for outstanding achievement in the Museum category. Christopher Chadbourne & Associates (CCA) received the award in Los Angeles as exhibit designers for this highly touted honor. CCA led the team that included Dennis Earl Moore Productions and Museum Design Associates.

“Recognizing excellence in the creation of compelling educational, historical and entertainment
projects, the Thea Awards reinforce…approaches to engaging people worldwide,” said TEA Board President Craig Hanna. “These outstanding achievements demonstrate the power that storytelling, architecture, technology and experience design can have.”

James Rees, Executive Director of Mount Vernon explained, “We [built] new facilities to show visitors why George Washington…was chosen again and again by the founding fathers to lead this country.” The exhibits lift the shroud of myth to reveal the character of Washington and his legacy in shaping the character of the country.

This is CCA’s third Thea award. The Chicago Museum of Science & Industry’s U-505 exhibit won Outstanding Museum Exhibit in 2007; The Great Platte River Road Memorial Archway exhibit won Outstanding Visitor Center in 2001.
