For the course of a year there has been a tremendous surge in publicity for the Father of Our Country, George Washington, in anticipation of the opening of the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate. Opened in October, 2006 and featuring exhibits by CCA in collaboration with MDA and DEMP, the Center asks the question “Who is the REAL George Washington?”

Often remarked upon as imposing and handsome, the project seeks to uncover what Washington actually looked like by using state-of-the-art forensic science, artifactual evidence, and eyewitness accounts of the time.
This knowledge was applied to the creation of life-like reproductions of Washington as a 19-year-old surveyor; as a 45-year-old commander of the Continental Army; and at 57, when he was sworn in as President.
Considered the “Indispensable American” by his peers and historians, George Washington’s character defined his life and presidency. He served without pay during the Revolutionary War, defused a potential military
coup at war’s end, consistently imparted hope to a besieged nation and
set many of the precedents that govern the executive branch to this day.
